Hahndorf, Adelaide Hills

Imagine chatting to people from all corners of Australia and the globe, imagine the inspiration for your next holiday as a result of their passion, and imagine the value that you provide to them talking about your favourite places in the Adelaide Hills and SA. Imagine also gaining new skills, friendships, knowledge and confidence, within a supportive and beautiful work environment. No need to imagine this happens every day !

The Adelaide Hills Visitor Information Centre, located in the beautiful village of Hahndorf promotes all tourism businesses and operators from across the Adelaide Hills.

Open seven days a week, our centre is a busy hub for tourists from all over Australia and overseas, along with first time visitors from metropolitan Adelaide.

Volunteer opportunities are available year round and suit people who live within and have knowledge of the Adelaide Hills, or are willing to learn. Have you just moved here? Don't be afraid to come and join our team - its a great way to learn more about this amazing region, meet people and gain valuable experience.

Uniforms and training are provided. All staff and volunteers are required to undertake a police clearance which is funded by us.

Current opportunities are available as follows:

  • Volunteer Tourism Ambassador - principally based within the Visitor Centre and promoting the whole region.
  • Volunteer Hahndorf Main Street Ambassador - principally working outside of the Visitor Centre, welcoming people to Hahndorf, attending local events and specialising in the villages tourism and business product.

Here's what two of our volunteers have to say ......

"Thank you for giving me the opportunity to volunteer at the Adelaide Hills VIC. My time there gave me confidence in a workplace once again after being out of the workforce for a number of years while I raised my family. I’ve acquired skills such as assisting visitors from all over the world, working in a team, office systems, retail sales, booking accommodations and tours etc. I was always very proud to work at the VIC as it was so well resourced and my fellow volunteers were a font of local knowledge. Due to gaining these skills and my confidence growing I was able to apply for paid work and succeeded in gaining employment. I will be forever grateful for your belief in me and for giving me this experience." Lisa H

"Hi my name is Barb and I was a volunteer at the Hahndorf Visitor Centre for over 2 years and it was an amazing experience I volunteered 2- 3 days per week and I made some great new friends and felt I made a difference.  I met people from every state in Australia and from every country in the world it was just amazing. I also learnt new skills and being able to assist visitors to the Adelaide Hills make the most of their time in the region was very satisfying and a lot of fun. If you have time on your hands and wanting to make a difference then give it a try." Barb H
